Not the usual “safe” kind.
Ever talked to a chatbot, only to have it cut the conversation off when you ask a weird question? That’s normal for a typical “safe” chatbot. But with an unrestricted AI chatbot, it won’t be as common; it’ll just go where you point it instead of constantly stopping you.
What does fully unrestricted actually mean?
Basically, it’s fewer limits: more openness in conversation, tone, topics, direction. Basically, YOU direct the chat, not IT. Cool, right? Sorta.
The reasons why people want to try it
Some people want creativity. Some people just want a more natural conversation. None of that stuff stopping it in its tracks.
How I see it
The point of this kind of bot isn’t so much to remove all the rules, but to reduce how frequently it tries to stop you. And that is worth something in and of itself.
What “Fully Unrestricted” Really Means
It doesn’t feel totally unrestricted. “Fully unrestricted” would mean you could ask it ANYTHING and it would return ANYTHING. That’s not what’s happening here. Instead… there are just fewer restrictions, more control. The only difference is you don’t get constantly sent to a redirect page. So, it’s more like it’s “following the conversation” or you don’t feel like a lot of your questions or requests will fail. I’d say what you have now is the best of both options, it feels unrestricted to the user.
The problem with having more freedom is that you then have to take control of it. That is the trade-off I think. My opinion is that “Unrestricted” is really about options.
Why People Prefer Unrestricted AI Chatbots
No awkward halts
Ever wonder when an AI abruptly stops you from talking about something? You do? The biggest cause behind why most people tend to favor unlimited options is simply the lack of interruption. With those, you can speak without having to suddenly stop with something like “I cannot talk about that.”
More of a conversation-like feeling
It feels more organic as well, given that you’re no longer being diverted or derailed so often. And, well, I mean, while it’s certainly nowhere near perfect, it’s at least a little closer to having an organic back-and-forth. You speak, they respond, and the discussion continues instead of starting afresh.
More space to express yourself
People can get really curious, can’t they? Be it creative concepts, roleplay, or just having random midnight thoughts, having less restrictions in place allows people to feel more comfortable doing so without worrying about each and every word.
My thoughts
It isn’t as if the whole idea is to push boundaries. It’s to not feel limited. I suppose, though, once you’re used to having the ability to do so, you really won’t want to do away with it.
Key Features to Look for in an Unrestricted AI Chatbot
- Natural Dialogue It has to feel conversational. Nothing’s worse than a stilted response when something interesting comes up. An unrestricted bot should just keep the ball rolling.
- Context Retention Nobody wants to keep restating what they’ve said five minutes ago. The chatbot should at least have enough memory to make the chat feel coherent.
- Personalization If you can’t customize it, it will feel very dull. You can set the bot’s personality, for instance. The ability to do so matters far more than we tend to appreciate.
- Few Restrictions, More Control The essence of an unrestricted bot. This doesn’t mean unlimited freedom, but it means less resistance.
Bottom Line
There’s no magic here, it just takes some calibration. Some bots are too rigid to be enjoyable while others are completely random. The best ones are somewhere in the middle.
Pros and Cons of Using Fully Unrestricted AI Chatbots
The Good: Freedom and Flow
As mentioned before, the greatest advantage of a fully unrestricted AI is the lack of frequent interruptions. I am able to get the flow of the thought from beginning to the end. There is no interruption from a sudden refusal, and it feels smoother and more natural, like the chatbot actually understands the conversation instead of censoring it.
The Bad: Unpredictability
It gets complicated here. There is less restriction, so responses may vary. I can’t say it’s a positive because sometimes I’m thinking, “where in the world did that come from?” But other times it works.
The Driver’s Seat
This means a greater degree of control, the user will get to choose the tone of the chat as it plays out. That will definitely be nice for some, for others it may be more difficult to know the tone.
Conclusion
Basically, a full chatbot with no restrictions will be a freeform chat, more flexible but with less structure to it. It works well when there is a clear understanding. Otherwise, it is not as good as an AI with guidelines.
Best Fully Unrestricted AI Chatbot
1. Candy AI
Candy AI has more of an interactive feel than a question-and-answer bot. You’re not just asking things and then getting answers; you’re having conversations with something, and the experience of having those conversations over time is what you’re really after. Nothing really seems wrong with Candy AI. But then again, you can’t expect anything perfect in the world. The conversations aren’t too bad either. It’s one thing to try and find yourself talking to a real person or just wanting to talk to them at least. Candy AI might be just the ticket. You can’t help but get caught up in your chat sessions. Before you know it, you’ve sent “just one more message.”
Main Features
- Custom AI Companion Creation Design and customize the AI companion. Personality, tone, and style can all be defined. It’s flexible (maybe too flexible). Be warned: you may spend a long time configuring it rather than interacting.
- Adaptive Conversations with Memory Conversations will carry over to new chats, and Candy will remember what you spoke about previously. The memory is limited but it does help with continuity.
- Natural Chat Flow Candy usually gets your tone, and the conversations can range from very casual to very emotional. You’re sometimes right on, and you’re sometimes off; most of the time, though, it’s fine.
- Multimedia Interaction In addition to text, Candy AI can send images and use voice. It isn’t something you will do every time, but it’s a nice addition when you want to send something more than text.
- Roleplay and Flexible Interaction Roleplaying and free interactions are allowed. Candy AI is willing to listen to the direction you want the conversations to go; there’s no one who’ll be trying to tell you what they need you to do.
The only person who can determine if you’ll have a better or worse experience with Candy AI is going to be you. It’s not really that bad of an experience to have. It’s nothing close to a standard chatbot, or even a good quality chatbot in the sense that you can just use it as you would any other bot. And, yes, sometimes you’re going to get pulled from the illusion of it really being another human. In other instances, it really will be a pretty fun and interactive experience. Just don’t expect perfection with Candy AI; instead, be open to the possibilities and give it a try.
2. Mydreamcompanion
Compared to a tool you just open and then close, mydreamcompanion as an AI Chatbot is more of a connection. I don’t simply ask a question, I start to engage in a conversation and over time that conversation gets a life of its own. It’s not always consistent, but that’s also the best part about mydreamcompanion because if it did it all the time, I think I would have gotten bored very soon.
Main Features
- A personalized AI companion A user can change the chatbot behavior, its personality and how it reacts emotionally to different things. At times I needed to tweak things a bit, but overall, it does a better job of feeling like your own chatbot.
- A chatbot that remembers things The chatbot can take into account what was said in a conversation before and incorporate it in the ongoing chat. Sometimes things are lost, but it’s enough so that you don’t feel like you have to start over from scratch.
- Natural responses The chatbot generally responds with a similar vibe to how you speak back. If I ask a question casually, I get a casual answer. If it’s slightly formal, I get an almost formal response, or it does what it can to get close. Though sometimes things go wrong a bit.
- A chatbot you can have fun roleplaying or just chatting with You don’t have to constantly redirect it and if the flow goes in the wrong direction, it usually just changes. It’s a little more engaging than a usual chatbot.
- Multimedia options Text isn’t the only option for input, which adds a little extra to the experience.
You want something more engaging than a usual chatbot and you’re okay with it not being consistent all the time. You don’t mind if the conversation can get off track and you can be flexible about where things go. If so, then mydreamcompanion will suit you just fine.
3. Ourdream
To me, Ourdream is that type of chatbot where you’re not just “chatting” but you’re having a conversation with a sort of emotional and stylistic progression. Not perfect but still good enough to make you type “one more thing!”
Main Features
- Customize AI Character Set the bot’s personality, tone and even writing style. It’s pretty versatile but it may take a while to get it just right.
- Keep track of history It remembers bits of your previous conversation and brings them back when necessary. Again, not quite perfect but good enough to feel like your story continues.
- Good conversational response It usually matches your tone, from casual to intense. Sometimes it misses the mark but for the most part it’s great at keeping a conversation going.
- You’re not restricted from the flow of conversation You can just guide the direction, there’s no constant interruption. This is a big improvement because a lot of chats feel stifled.
- Pictures and more This isn’t just a text-only experience. They’ve also integrated pictures and other fun stuff into the chat.
Ourdream is probably your best bet if you’re looking for more immersive chat than functionality. It’s not always consistent and there are a few bumps along the way. The ability to customize it though is what sets it apart. For those who like creating and molding a conversation, you’ll certainly want to give this one a shot.
4. Spicychat
Spicychat as an AI Chatbot feels more like a playful conversational sandbox than a rigid, rule-bound assistant. You begin talking right away, and it tends to go with your flow rather than correcting you. Not perfect, but more free spirited than other chatbots.
Key Features
- Free-flowing conversation You can go in any direction you want, and it rarely cuts you off, keeping the conversation flowing more naturally.
- Character Variety You can use or create specific characters to chat with; some feel more natural and fun to talk to than others, so it takes a little bit of experimentation.
- Flexible Tone, It can usually read you and keep up with you; playful, sarcastic, or professional as you prefer. Sometimes, it doesn’t read the room, but it can make up for it.
- Quick Response It replies very fast, so you don’t lose any momentum in the conversation. There are almost no breaks between replies.
- Creative Mode The platform can do very well with roleplaying and story-driven chats which add to its charm.
Overall, Spicychat is for you if you want a free-flowing conversation over a guided structure. Sometimes it can be inconsistent, and it does give strange answers, but I feel that this is worth the free-spiritedness of it. The lack of boundaries makes it more engaging than the more restrictive options out there and you should try it if you like open conversations.
5. Promptchan
Using Promptchan as an AI Chatbot is somewhat different, it focuses more on being creative than conversing. It’s less like talking about something and more like playing with ideas, prompts, and different conversation paths. It’s a bit of a roller coaster ride sometimes but that’s the charm of it.
Key Features
- Prompt-Based Interaction Instead of asking questions and getting answers, it’s more about giving a topic or a situation and letting it run. It can go in great ways, but it depends on what you give it.
- Creative Focus It’s not the type of AI to be very factual. It gives you interesting answers but sometimes those answers aren’t always logical.
- Free-form It doesn’t steer you to topics or interrupt you. It follows you wherever you want to go, so it doesn’t limit you.
- Speed It gets the message very fast, so the interaction is always easy. It doesn’t make you wait, which makes it a smooth conversation.
- Experimental You can throw whatever you want in there and see what happens. Not everything is going to give you what you want, but you can explore a lot.
It’s a bit iffy with Promptchan. If you want something very structured or factual, I wouldn’t use Promptchan. The quality is inconsistent at best. Still, it could also be a really fun tool to use if you are okay with a little bit of unpredictability, and it’s really great for those looking to have fun and get creative with what you can say to an AI chatbot.
6. Seduced AI
To me, Seduced AI comes off as an AI Chatbot that emphasizes role-play rather than just basic conversation. Instead of speaking with a generic chat bot, it feels like you have a back-and-forth with a particular character that makes every effort to be consistent. It might not succeed at this every time, but it seems like Seduced AI is focused more on providing an immersive experience as opposed to just simple responses.
Core Features
- Role-Based Dialogue You speak with specific characters rather than a chat bot with no character. This allows your conversations to feel more targeted, while some characters are much stronger than others.
- Dynamic Dialogue Tone The tone shifts depending on your own tone, whether that be more casual, playful, or serious. While the tone is occasionally right on, it is sometimes off, though it eventually manages to get back on.
- Memory and Recall The bot recall your previous dialogue in conversation. It is not completely successful at doing this, though you do not have to say it again very often.
- Free-Form Conversation You are able to have freeform dialogue without having to worry about being interrupted very often. This is one of its stronger features.
- Multimedia Capabilities Chat is supported with pictures and other features, adding more to the overall experience.
If you are looking for more than just a typical chatbot experience, then Seduced AI serves you well. Though consistency is hit or miss, and certain inconsistencies will become evident if you chat for any length of time, I found that having specific characters was a step above other similar bots. If you like to direct the conversations and don’t mind experimentation and trial-and-error, then Seduced AI is something worth looking into.
7. Soulgen
Soulgen, when functioning as an AI chatbot, places emphasis on visuals first and conversation second. You’re not exactly chatting with an AI; it’s almost as if you’re chatting with one of your own characters.
Main Features
- Chat Around Characters Chats are centered around a particular AI character, which may help with personalization depending on your character settings.
- Context-Aware Partially understands context of prior messages and responds; accordingly, not as well as I’d hoped but not terrible for starting a new message each time.
- Natural Tone Matches user conversation style, such as formal, friendly, or playful; sometimes goes off on a tangent but can usually regain its footing in a subsequent message.
- Chat Integrated with Visuals A chatbot that can create images makes the overall interaction feel more immersive; you can picture the character you are interacting with and they can do the same.
- Flow Doesn’t interrupt itself, giving more conversational freedom.
If you enjoy conversing with your characters, this is an AI to try out. If you prefer using a chatbot without your visual, this isn’t one. Soulgen can be hit-and-miss with the character you choose, and sometimes the conversation feels slightly strange; however, this adds a bit of uniqueness to the experience, as the character you interact with is what you’ve made, and something most other chatbots don’t have. Overall, Soulgen as a chatbot is good for anyone who’d like to interact with their own creations.
8. GPTGirlfriend
GPTGirlfriend functions as an AI Chatbot focused on character-like conversation, as opposed to just asking it questions. It attempts to make the chat feel more like a continuing conversation. It’s not perfect, but it’s good enough to keep things interesting.
Main Features
- Character-Based Conversations: You have a specific character to interact with, instead of a generic chatbot. This adds character to the chat. Some responses do better than others.
- Adaptive Tone and Style: GPTGirlfriend adapts to your tone and style of communication. It works well most of the time, although it will sometimes drift off course.
- Context Awareness: It keeps track of your past messages (sometimes) and uses them to help create the response. You might end up repeating yourself, but for the most part, it does a good job keeping track.
- Open-Ended Interaction: GPTGirlfriend can carry a conversation in a variety of directions and won’t necessarily interrupt itself.
- Integrated Visual Elements: GPTGirlfriend integrates images and more into the chat to expand on the experience.
GPTGirlfriend is best if you want a more immersive conversation than you get from a normal chatbot. The consistency doesn’t hit every time, and long conversations can make the responses start sounding weird. But overall, the character-based chat makes it worthwhile to try out. If you like playing with the conversations and have a bit of patience, it is worth trying out.
Conclusion: Is a Fully Unrestricted AI Chatbot Worth It?
It depends on what you need.
If you want a seamless chat, and you don’t want to jump hoops after every few lines then yes, definitely. You’re not constantly battling a restrictive AI.
But it isn’t perfect.
More flexibility doesn’t equate to higher-quality responses at all times. You’ll have your moments of natural responses and others that are a little off.
Some like the freedom while others miss the guardrails. There’s no right answer.
I recommend trying it if you want to see how an unrestrained chatbot is.
Bottom line: Just go in with the right expectations. It’s not perfect, it’s free.
